Mount Hardman
MOUNT HARDMAN, Western AustraliaMount the hard man.
Not far out of the outback town of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, you'll find this empty, flat arid area called Mount Hardman. It has it's own postcode, though there are no houses to be found here. Evidently, it's named after Edward Hardman (1845-1887), a geologist who explored the Kimberley for gold. Hardman Point and Hardman Range are also named after him. Just down the road from Mount Hardman, you'll come across the Giant Baobab Tree, a minor tourist attraction and camping area.

Doganabuganaram
DOGANABUGANARAM, New South WalesThe name of this hill and road in Neilrex NSW sounds like "dog and a bug and a ram" because that's exactly the origin! It's not of aboriginal origin as one might assume. The story is that a surveyor once camped near here, sharing his campsite with, you guessed it, a dog and a bug and a ram.
Have a good 2018, the year of the dog.

Wetpants Peak
WETPANTS PEAK, TasmaniaWetpants Peak is a very damp mountain peak in the rainforests of Tasmania.
The name originates from a Forestry party in the 1950s including Mr Tom Stephens and Mr Ken Escott. Ken later explained that because the weather had been fine and sunny all the time on the mountain we paddled in the tarn for the second time. Tom then got dressed and I was just about to when a gust of wind blew Tom's hat out onto the water. It seems that he jumped in the water again to get it. That was the coldest water I have ever swum in but possibly the fastest time over 25 yards. I was not wearing jeans at the time, but probably underpants or nothing.
Tom Stevens was a member of the Nomenclature Board so he is the one who most likely submitted the name. (Details)

Nowhere Creek
NOWHERE CREEK, VictoriaNowhere Creek is a small farming area in western Victoria, about an hour from Ballarat. It has its own postcode but, needless to say, there's nothing here and no information to be found about it.

Big Stinking Lagoon
BIG STINKING LAGOON, Northern TerritoryThis has to be one of my favourite place names ever. This boomerang-shaped lagoon can be found in an isolated area near the coast of Northern Territory. According to these fishermen, water in Big Stinking Lagoon was not drinkable and was murky.
