Soily Bottom Point
SOILY BOTTOM POINT, New South WalesSoily Bottom Point is located at the end of Moons Avenue in Lugarno, not far from Punchbowl, south-west of Sydney. Lugarno was named after Lugano in Switzerland but the origin of the Soily Bottom Point name is unclear. It's probably something boring about the bottom of the river being muddy rather than any interesting story about someone having an accident in their pants. A ferry used to run from Soily Bottom Point and nearby Tom's Ugly Point.
Other classic placenames in the vicinity include Boggywell Creek, Jew Fish Point, Bottle And Glass Head, Bald Face Point and Shag Point.

Murdering Hut Creek
MURDERING HUT CREEK, Wongwibinda, New South Wales & Rutherglen, VictoriaThere are at least three Murdering Hut Creeks including one in Wongwibinda in New South Wales and one over the border in Rutherglen in Victoria.
As for the one in Rutherglen, a story found on Google describes a farmer named Roger Moore who killed his family with a machete and later shot himself. People say that you can now see his ghost when you cross the creek in the late afternoon. Hmmm, that seems bogus. This seems to be the real story:
In 1850 an argument at the Black Dog Inn between two shepherds (John Morrison and Matthew Madden) from the Ullina Run. Police report states that a fight broke out when returning to their huts and shearing blades used whereby one man John Morrison was mortally wounded and died before the doctor could come from Albury. The man is buried at a farm on the Rutherglen Road and is marked by a plaque. The nearby Creek - Brown's Creek (may also be Blind Creek) was renamed 'The Murdering Hut Creek'. Matthew Madden charged with manslaughter and served 7 years hard labour on the roads.

Murdering Hut Creek intersects with Doughboy Creek.

Useless Loop
USELESS LOOP, Western AustraliaWhen the French explorer Louis-Henri de Saulces de Freycinet took his long name to this area in 1801, he mistakenly believed that a sandbar was blocking access so he named the place Havre Inutile (Useless Harbour). This beautiful area in Shark Bay is not so useless now though, as it is a major producer of high quality salt. Sorry, but tourists can't visit this beautiful little township of around 130 people - it is fully-owned by the Japanese Mitsui Group, and is basically just a town for the employees and families.

Bang Bang Jump Up
BANG BANG JUMP UP, QueenslandSmack bang in the middle of a massive, super flat grassland area in Stokes, Queensland, the land suddenly jumps up to form a hill which goes by the name of Bang Bang Jump Up. The nearby Bang Bang Waterhole and Bang Bang Homestead must be where the name comes from. The nearest town is Normanton, over 100km away.

Boggy Hole Access
BOGGY HOLE ACCESS, Northern TerritoryHow can you access this boggy hole? Dead in the centre of Australia, deep in the outback near Alice Springs, travel by 4WD and you'll find a crossing over Finke River called Boggy Hole Access. Most of the time the Finke River is just a dry river bed but Boggy Hole is a permanent waterhole, a true oasis in the desert.
