As you may know, Japanese comics are called manga, and ero means erotic in Japanese, so this town's name sounds exactly like it means erotic comics. In fact, there is a popular Japanese manga and anime called Eromanga Sensei ("Erotic Manga Teacher"). However, as you can probably guess, the town's name is actually a word from a local aboriginal language. The dialect is unknown unfortunately, but it is believed to mean 'windy plain' or something like that.
Even though it isn't as erotic as it sounds, there are a few interesting things about this tiny outback opal town (population 45). One is that it is claimed to be Australia's furthest town from the ocean. Another is that Australia's largest dinosaurs have been discovered here making it quite an important site for palaeontology. It is also mainland Australia's largest oil producing area. If you're in the area, check out the Eromanga Natural History Museum and the old Eromanga Royal Hotel.
